Trust Badges and Payment Icons

What this feature does

Trust badges and payment icons help customers feel safe before they pay. You can show things like “Secure checkout” badges and payment method icons (like Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Shop Pay) near your checkout area.

Keep it simple. 3–6 payment icons and 1 small security badge usually looks best and feels more trustworthy than a long row of logos.

Where trust badges and payment icons show

These icons are shown inside the cart drawer, close to your checkout button (the area customers look at right before they pay). You can control placement so it fits your cart layout.

This page focuses on trust badges and payment icons only. If you want to style the checkout button itself, use the “Buttons and Checkout Area” page in this plan.

Set up trust badges and payment icons

In your app dashboard, open Cart Editor, then go to the section for the Checkout area (the bottom part of the cart drawer).

Enable Trust badges and/or Payment icons. If you only want one of them, you can keep the other one off.

  • Security badges: Pick the badge style you want (for example: “Secure checkout”, “SSL secure”, “Money-back guarantee”).
  • Payment icons: Select the payment methods you want to display (for example: Visa, Mastercard, Amex, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Shop Pay).

Try to match what your store actually supports at checkout.

Adjust the icon size so it is easy to see but not bigger than your checkout button. A good goal is: readable on mobile without pushing important content too far down.

  • If your cart feels crowded, choose a smaller size.
  • If customers often ask “Is this safe?” or “What payments do you take?”, choose a medium size.

Choose where the icons appear in the checkout area:

  • Above the checkout button: Helps build trust before the main click.
  • Below the checkout button: Keeps the button as the main focus (most common).
  • Near totals: Helpful if your totals are right above the button and you want a clean “pay area” block.

Save your changes and preview your cart drawer on both desktop and mobile. Make sure the icons do not overlap other elements and do not push the checkout button off-screen.

Best-practice layouts

  • Checkout button
  • Small row of payment icons (3–6)
  • One short trust line (example: “Secure checkout”)

This looks clean and keeps the checkout button as the main focus.

  • Use smaller icons
  • Show fewer payment methods
  • Place icons below the checkout button

Use one security badge plus payment icons. Keep both small. Too many badges can look spammy and may reduce trust.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Showing payment methods you don’t accept: This can confuse customers and cause abandoned carts.
  • Using too many icons: A long row looks messy, especially on mobile.
  • Making badges too large: Big badges can distract from the checkout button.
If you display a payment icon that isn’t available at checkout for the customer’s country or currency, it can hurt trust. Keep your list accurate and simple.

Quick checklist (before you publish)

  • Icons are easy to read on mobile
  • Checkout button is still the most visible item
  • Only real, supported payment methods are shown
  • Spacing looks clean (no overlap, no wrapping in weird places)
Trust badges and payment icons work best when they are close to the checkout button and match your store’s design (colors, style, and spacing).
