Coupon Lists and Offers Sheet

What you can do on this page

Coupon Lists and the Offers Sheet let you show shoppers ready-to-use coupon cards inside the cart drawer. Each card can include:

  • Code (the discount code shoppers apply)
  • Label (a short title like “10% off”)
  • Description (a simple line that explains the deal)

You can also control:

  • Offer-count text (the text that says how many offers are available)
  • Ineligible coupon messaging (what shoppers see when a coupon can’t be used)
Discount eligibility is still controlled by Shopify (rules, dates, minimums, customer segments, and whether a discount can combine). This page controls how offers are shown and what message customers see when they don’t qualify.

Create predefined coupon cards

Use predefined coupon cards when you want customers to tap/copy a code instead of typing it.

In the app, go to the Cart Editor and open the section for Discount Codes. Then open the settings for Coupon List or Offers Sheet (whichever you use in your cart).

Find the area for Predefined coupons (or Coupon cards) and choose Add.

  • Code: Enter the exact discount code from Shopify (example: WELCOME10).
  • Label: Keep it short and clear (example: 10% off).
  • Description: Explain the rule in plain language (example: Save 10% on orders over $50).

Save your changes and preview the cart drawer. Make sure the coupon card is easy to read on mobile.

Write descriptions like a checklist. If the code has rules, spell them out in one line (minimum spend, eligible items, “first order only,” etc.). This reduces coupon frustration and support tickets.

Good examples (simple and clear)

  • Label: Free shipping
Description: Free shipping on orders over $75
  • Label: $10 off
Description: $10 off when you buy 2+ items
  • Label: 15% off
    Description: 15% off selected items

Set the offer-count text

The offer-count text is the line that tells shoppers how many deals are available (for example, “3 offers available”). You can customize this to match your store voice.

In the Coupon List or Offers Sheet settings, look for a text field like Offer count text or Offers available text.

Use short, friendly text. Examples:

  • Offers available
  • Available coupons
  • Today’s deals

Preview on mobile and desktop. Make sure the text does not wrap in a weird way or push important buttons down.

If your theme or language uses longer words, keep this text extra short so it stays readable in the cart drawer.

Configure messaging for ineligible coupons

Sometimes a shopper can see a coupon card but still can’t use it. This happens when they do not meet the discount rules (like minimum spend, specific products, customer tags, or the discount is expired).

Set a clear message so shoppers know what to do next instead of feeling stuck.

In the Coupon List or Offers Sheet settings, find the section for Ineligible coupon or Not eligible messaging.

Use plain language and avoid blame. Good examples:

  • This code doesn’t apply to your cart yet.
  • Add more items to qualify for this offer.
  • This offer applies to selected items only.

If you can, include a next step shoppers can follow. Examples:

  • Add $10 more to use this code.
  • Only works on sale items.
  • One discount per order.

Preview the cart and try the coupon when the cart does not meet the rules (for example, below the minimum spend). Confirm the message appears and is easy to understand.

Don’t promise an exact discount result in your message unless you are sure it will always be true. Shopify discount rules can change (dates, exclusions, minimums), and the message should still make sense.

Common setup mistakes (quick fixes)

  • Double-check the code matches the Shopify discount code exactly (spelling, hyphens, spaces).
  • Check the Shopify discount rules: minimum purchase, product/collection limits, customer eligibility, usage limits, and start/end dates.
  • If you’re already using another discount, the new one may not stack.
  • Shorten the description to one line.
  • Move extra rules into a shorter phrase (example: “Selected items only”).
  • Update the ineligible message to include a next step (like “Add more to qualify” or “Applies to selected items”).
  • Make the coupon card description match the real rules (minimum spend, exclusions).

Recommended text templates (copy/paste)

  • Offer-count text: Available offers
  • Ineligible message: This code doesn’t apply to your cart yet.
  • Description example: Save 10% on orders over $50
  • Offer-count text: Deals you can use
  • Ineligible message: Almost there—add more items to qualify.
  • Description example: Free shipping when you spend $75+
