Notifications (Toast Messages)

What toast notifications are

Toast notifications are small pop-up messages that show for a short time. They help customers understand what just happened (like adding an item, unlocking a reward, or applying a coupon).

Toast messages are meant to be quick and helpful. Keep them short so they don’t block shopping.

Where to find toast settings

In the app admin, open Notifications (Toast Messages).

Enable toast notifications if they are currently off.

Select the actions you want to show messages for:

  • Add to cart
  • Reward unlocked
  • Coupon applied

Save your settings, then test on your storefront.

Set the toast position

Pick where the toast appears on the screen. Common choices are:

  • Bottom right (common on desktop)
  • Bottom center (common on mobile)
  • Top right (good if your cart drawer opens from the bottom)
If your cart drawer slides in from the right, avoid right side toast positions so the toast doesn’t overlap the drawer.

Set the duration (how long it shows)

Duration controls how many seconds the toast stays on screen before it disappears.

  • Short (1–2 seconds): best for “Added to cart”
  • Medium (3–4 seconds): good for “Coupon applied”
  • Long (4–6 seconds): best for “Reward unlocked” so customers notice it
If the duration is too long, it can cover buttons like Checkout on mobile.

Customize the text for each action

Set clear text for each toast so customers know what happened.

Add to cart toast

  • Goal: confirm the product was added
  • Good examples:
    • “Added to cart”
    • “Added! View your cart”

Reward unlocked toast

  • Goal: celebrate and explain the reward
  • Good examples:
    • “Reward unlocked: Free shipping!”
    • “You unlocked a free gift!”

Coupon applied toast

  • Goal: confirm the discount is active
  • Good examples:
    • “Coupon applied”
    • “Discount applied successfully”
Use simple words. Avoid long sentences. If you include a coupon code in the toast text, keep it short and easy to read.

Style the toast (colors, size, and look)

Use styling to match your brand and make the message easy to read.

Common styling options

  • Background color: the toast box color
  • Text color: make sure it has strong contrast
  • Border radius: rounded corners vs square
  • Shadow: helps the toast stand out
  • Font size: keep it readable on mobile

Suggested colors (simple and clear)

  • Add to cart: dark background with white text (neutral and clean)
  • Reward unlocked: green or your brand “success” color
  • Coupon applied: blue or green (signals “success”)
Always check contrast. Light text on a light background can be hard to read, especially on mobile.

Recommended setup (quick presets)

  • Position: Bottom center (mobile), Bottom right (desktop)
  • Duration: 2s (add to cart), 4s (coupon), 5s (reward)
  • Style: Dark background, white text, medium shadow, rounded corners
  • Text examples:
    • Add to cart: “Added to cart”
    • Coupon: “Coupon applied”
    • Reward: “Reward unlocked!”
  • Position: Top right
  • Duration: 3s (add to cart), 4s (coupon), 6s (reward)
  • Style: Brand color background, white text, stronger shadow, slightly larger font
  • Text examples:
    • Add to cart: “Added! 🎉” (only if emojis match your brand)
    • Coupon: “Discount is on”
    • Reward: “You unlocked free shipping”

Test your toast messages

Add an item from a product page and from a collection page (if your theme supports quick add). Confirm the toast shows in the right spot and doesn’t cover buttons.

Add items until you hit a reward goal. Confirm the message is clear and stays long enough to read.

Apply a coupon and confirm the toast appears and the discount is actually applied in the cart.

If you change your theme colors or fonts, review toast styling again so it still matches your storefront.
