Market-Specific Rewards

What “market-specific rewards” means

If you sell in more than one Shopify Market (like US, Canada, UK, EU), your shoppers can see different currencies and prices. Market-specific rewards let you set different goals and rewards per market, so your “Spend $X to get Y” offers make sense in each currency.

Your reward goals are checked in the shopper’s active market/currency. That means $50 USD and €50 are not the same goal.

Before you start

  • Make sure your Shopify Markets are already set up in Shopify admin.
  • Decide what you want per market (example: Free Shipping at $60 in the US, and at €65 in the EU).

Set different goals/rewards per market

In the app, look for the Market selector (usually near the top of the page). Click it and choose the market you want to edit (example: United States).

Open the section where you manage rewards/tiers (free shipping, discount, or free gift). You will be editing rewards for the market you selected in the Market selector.

Add a new tier (or edit an existing one) and set the goal amount in the market’s currency.

  • Free Shipping: Set the spend goal and the unlocked message.
  • Discount: Set the goal and the discount details for this market.
  • Free Gift: Set the goal and the gift rule(s) for this market.

Save your changes. These settings should now apply to the selected market.

Switch the Market selector to the next market (example: Canada or EU) and set goals again in that currency.

Simple workflow: Pick one “base” market first (like US), set your tiers, then switch markets and adjust only the goal amounts and text. This keeps your offers consistent.

Example setup (easy to copy)

  • US market (USD): Free Shipping at $60, 10% off at $100
  • EU market (EUR): Free Shipping at €65, 10% off at €110
  • UK market (GBP): Free Shipping at £55, 10% off at £95

How to test the correct market rules apply

The goal is to confirm two things:

  • The storefront is using the market you expect.
  • The cart shows the rewards for that market (correct currency and correct goal amounts).

Test using the market/country selector on your storefront

Open your store in an incognito/private window so you don’t reuse old cookies.

Use your storefront’s country/region (or currency) selector and switch to the market you want to test (example: EU).

Add any product to the cart so the cart drawer opens and reward messages appear.

Confirm the cart shows the right currency symbol (€, £, $, etc.) and the correct goal amounts for that market.

Add more items until you cross the goal (example: go from €60 to €66). Confirm the reward changes to the “unlocked” state at the correct point.

Test by changing the shipping country at checkout (quick check)

If your markets are based on country, you can also do a fast check like this:

  1. Add items to cart and go to checkout.
  2. Change the shipping country to a country in another market.
  3. Go back to the cart and confirm the cart rewards match that market.

Some stores only switch markets after a page reload. If the currency or rewards don’t change right away, refresh the page and open the cart again.

Common issues (and what to check)

  • Go back to the app and confirm the Market selector is set to the market you meant to edit.
  • Make sure you clicked Save after editing that market.
  • Clear cache or test in an incognito window again.
  • Set goals per market instead of relying on automatic conversion.
  • Use round numbers for each currency (example: €65 instead of €64.37).
  • Test with real cart totals to confirm when the reward unlocks.
  • Confirm that market has its own tier created (not just the base market).
  • Double-check the goal amount for that market’s currency.
  • Make sure you are truly browsing in that market (using the storefront market selector).

If you edit rewards while viewing the wrong market in the Market selector, you may think you updated “all markets,” but you only updated one. Always check the Market selector first.
