Good API (Plant Trees / Clean Seas)

What this does

Good API lets customers add a small contribution in the cart to support environmental causes (like planting trees or cleaning the seas). You can connect your Good API account, choose where the widget shows inside the cart, and style it so it matches your store.

The widget appears inside the Oxify cart drawer (the slide-out cart). It does not change your Shopify checkout.

Before you start

  • Make sure the cart drawer is installed and active in your theme.
  • Have your Good API key ready (from your Good API account).

Connect Good API

In the Oxify app, go to Integrations (or Integrations & Advanced), then open Good API (Plant Trees / Clean Seas).

Enable the Good API toggle (or switch) so the integration is active.

Paste your Good API key into the API key field.

If you have more than one key, use the one connected to the program you want customers to support.

Click Save. Then open your storefront, add an item to the cart, and check the cart drawer to confirm the donation option shows.

If the widget does not show after saving, double-check the API key for extra spaces at the start or end. Copy and paste it again.

Choose widget placement inside the cart

You can choose where customers see the Good API widget in the cart drawer. Pick a spot that feels natural and easy to notice.

In the Oxify app, open Cart Editor.

Look for a section named Good API, Donations, or Environmental contribution (the exact label may vary by version).

Choose where the widget will appear, such as:

  • Near the checkout button (high visibility, often best for results)
  • Under cart items (customers see it while reviewing the cart)
  • In the cart footer (clean look, but can be missed)
If you want more people to use it, place it above the checkout button or close to it.

Save your changes and preview the cart drawer on both desktop and mobile.

Customize styling (match your brand)

Good styling makes the widget feel like part of your store. Aim for clear text and enough contrast so customers can read it easily.

Recommended styling settings

  • Button color: match your main accent color (often the same as your checkout button).
  • Text size: keep it similar to your cart text (don’t make it tiny).
  • Spacing: add comfortable padding so it doesn’t feel crowded.
  • Background/border: use a light background or subtle border to separate it from cart items.

In the Good API settings (or Cart Editor section for Good API), open Style or Design options.

Adjust colors (background, text, button), font size, and border radius so they match the cart drawer style.

If your cart drawer uses rounded corners, use a similar corner radius on the widget so it looks consistent.

Save, then test the cart drawer in a few situations: small cart, big cart, and on mobile. Make sure the widget is easy to read and not hidden below other sections.

What customers will see

  • A simple option to add a contribution in the cart drawer.
  • Clear cause messaging (like planting trees or cleaning the ocean), depending on your Good API setup.
  • The total updates as customers change cart items (normal cart behavior).

Most stores get better results when the widget is placed close to the checkout area (but not hidden below it). Customers are already in “ready to buy” mode there.

If the widget looks different from your cart drawer (different fonts, odd spacing, low contrast), shoppers may ignore it or think it’s not part of your store. Matching your brand increases trust.

  • Widget not showing: integration not enabled, API key missing/incorrect, or placement set to a hidden area.
  • Looks misaligned on mobile: reduce padding and check the placement order so it isn’t squeezed between tight sections.
  • Hard to read: increase text size and improve contrast (dark text on light background usually works best).
