Global Settings and Formatting

What global settings do

Global settings control store-wide defaults for the app. This helps keep your cart experience consistent across your storefront.

Use global settings to set things like:

  • Your default language for app text
  • How prices and numbers are written (comma vs decimal)
  • How strongly images are optimized (to help with speed)
  • Other “default” behavior that should apply across the store

Open the global settings

In the app admin, open Settings (sometimes shown as General or Global settings).

Look for a section named Global, Preferences, or Formatting.

Update the options you want, then click Save.

After saving, refresh your storefront and test the cart drawer.

Names and placement can vary a little depending on your app version, but the settings are usually under Settings and apply store-wide.

Language defaults

Use the language setting to choose the default language for app text (like labels, buttons, and messages).

  • Default language: The main language the app uses if a specific text field is not translated.
  • Best use: Set this to the language most of your shoppers use.
If you sell in multiple languages, set a clear default first. Then translate key cart text in the places where the app lets you customize labels and messages.

Number and price formatting (comma vs decimal)

This setting controls how numbers look across the app (like prices, savings, and totals).

Common formats

  • 1,234.56 (comma for thousands, dot for decimals)
  • 1.234,56 (dot for thousands, comma for decimals)

What this affects

  • Prices and totals shown in the cart drawer
  • Savings and discount amounts
  • Any number-based messages shown by the app
Pick a format that matches your store’s main market. If you change this later, numbers may look “wrong” to returning customers who are used to the old format.

Image optimization level

Image optimization helps balance image quality and page speed. This is mainly for product images shown by the app.

How to choose a level

  • Higher optimization (faster): Smaller images, faster loading, but images may look less sharp.
  • Lower optimization (sharper): Better quality, but images can load slower.
For most stores, choose a middle option first, then check the cart on mobile data (not just Wi‑Fi). If images look blurry, reduce optimization one step.

Other store-wide behavior settings

Depending on your plan and app version, you may also see other settings that apply everywhere. Examples include:

  • Default behavior rules: What the app should do unless a specific feature overrides it
  • Consistency options: Keep formatting and display styles the same across the cart
  • Performance options: Small settings that can improve loading speed
If you are not sure what a setting does, change only one setting at a time, save, and then test the cart drawer. That makes it easy to see what changed.

Quick testing checklist

  • Add a product to cart and open the cart drawer
  • Check price format (comma/decimal) on item prices and totals
  • Check that the main app text is in the right language
  • Check product images: sharp enough and loading quickly
  • Refresh the page after saving.
  • Test in an incognito/private window to avoid cached content.
  • Make sure you saved the setting (some pages have a Save button at the top or bottom).

Global settings are meant to be the default. Some parts of the cart editor may have their own settings that are more specific. If you see a conflict, keep your global settings simple and adjust the detailed behavior in the feature’s own section.
